Works in Progress: Inaugural Meeting of Ion Channels and Transporters Interest Group Sparks Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange
The Ion Channels and Transporters interest group successfully convened its first meeting on January 17th, bringing together enthusiastic students and postdocs eager to forge connections across laboratories and diverse research techniques. Hosted as an informal gathering, the event marked the beginning of a recurring monthly series aimed at fostering collaboration within the community.
Susanne Mesoy, from the Robinson Group, delivered an engaging presentation during the inaugural meeting, setting a promising tone for the future gatherings. The upcoming session, scheduled for February 14th, is set to feature Bethan Cole from the Becker Lab as the guest speaker. Beth's talk will be on 'preclinical development of TRPC3 inhibitors to treat spinocerebellar ataxia using whole cell patch clamp’.
The event provided a platform for attendees to enjoy a shared lunch, fostering an environment conducive to lively discussions and the exchange of ideas. Questions flowed freely, sparking cross-lab conversations that showcased the dynamic nature of the Ion Channels and Transporters interest group. The success of the first meeting bodes well for the group's mission to facilitate ongoing collaboration and knowledge sharing among its members.
Currently, there are two interest groups at Kavli Oxford. Should you wish to join the EV Group, kindly reach out to Suman Dutta.
